Family & Pet Safety Guidelines for Household Cleaning Agents
Pet Precautions: Protecting Dogs and Cats Around the Toilet
Many household pets — particularly curious dogs — have a notorious habit of drinking from the toilet bowl. While this behavior should always be discouraged, standard blue toilet tablets and chlorine drop-in pucks make toilet water acutely toxic to animals.
Concentrated sodium hypochlorite and chemical biocides cause severe chemical burns to pet tongues, esophageal ulcerations, and acute gastrointestinal poisoning. While Fuugu is bleach-free and formulated with food-grade citric descalers, bathroom doors and toilet lids should always remain closed during active foaming treatments.
CRITICAL WARNING: Never Mix Cleaning Chemicals
FATAL CHEMICAL HAZARD:
NEVER mix acid-based descalers (including citric acid, vinegar, or Fuugu) with chlorine bleach, sodium hypochlorite, ammonia, or commercial caustic drain cleaners. Combining these agents causes an immediate chemical reaction releasing deadly chloramine or chlorine gas, which can cause severe respiratory damage or fatal pulmonary edema.
Always flush the bowl thoroughly before switching cleaning products, keep powder sachets stored high out of reach of young children, and allow adequate bathroom ventilation during treatment.
